iX Cameras' High-Speed Technology Shines in Historic NASA Collaboration

October 2024 – iX Cameras is proud to announce its role in a recent NASA test, which marks a groundbreaking step toward advancing space technology. This collaboration, in partnership with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (Huntsville, Alabama) and Sierra Space, represents a significant milestone in the development of Sierra Space’s innovative inflatable habitats, designed to support human life in space.
The test focused on determining the maximum pressure the life module could withstand, a critical factor in ensuring the safety and durability of space habitats. iX Cameras was invited to participate in this live demonstration, showcasing our cutting-edge high-speed camera technology. The test was recorded with our i-SPEED 5 and i-SPEED 7 cameras, which captured wide-angle shots from approximately 200 feet away from the test site.
Despite the challenges of a nighttime test, our cameras excelled, utilizing advanced features such as remote start/stop, analog and digital gain, on- screen image processing, battery backup, and low light mode to ensure high- quality footage. With recording speeds of 5,000 and 10,000 frames per second, the results were exceptional, much to the satisfaction of engineers at NASA and Sierra Space.
We are excited to continue our journey as a trusted partner in the scientific and aerospace communities, contributing to pioneering space technology that may one day support human life beyond Earth.
