Attempting to image the welding process is very difficult with the intense wide spectrum light that is emitted from the process. The most successful method for imaging this application is to overpower the light emission from the subject with a fixed wavelength and a band pass optical filter attached to the camera. This requires a high power pulsed laser to be synchronised to the camera to ensure clean visible images can be captured.
